Fierce global competition secures premium price for Sofitel Sydney Wentworth

June 2014 - Traditional and non-traditional hotel investors from around the world expressed interest in the sale of the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, after a global marketing campaign by JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group’s regional leaders and the International Capital Group.

All marketing material was produced in both English and Chinese to ensure accessibility to the emerging Chinese market and an extensive series of personal presentations to targeted parties 4worldwide resulted in numerous Expressions of Interest.

The five-star asset, in the heart of Sydney’s financial and legal precinct was offered for sale subject to a long-term management agreement with Accor.

By the end of the campaign competitive tension was high allowing JLL to negotiate a sale of AUD201 million to Singapore-based Frasers Centrepoint.
