Evolve FM starts first contract

Evolve FM CEO John Owens announced today that the new Indigenous-owned property management company has commenced providing services to Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) with effect from 1 May.

"It's a very exciting development in the Indigenous business sector," Mr Owens said. "Evolve FM is the only Indigenous majority-owned full service facilities management company in Australia, and we think we can make a real difference by maximising the engagement of other Indigenous businesses in our supply chain.  It can have a genuine multiplier effect."

Evolve FM is a joint venture company between Pacific Services Group Holdings – a 100% Indigenous-owned company – and JLL, one of the world's leading property and real estate services companies. PSGH is the majority owner of Evolve FM.

PSGH took out two of the nine Supplier Diversity Awards at the Supply Nation Connect 2016 Gala Awards in Sydney on 5 May.  PSGH was awarded the Supplier to Supplier Partnership of the Year (in conjunction with Cole Workwear) and the Certified Supplier of the Year.

"JLL is proud to be associated with a company like PSGH in the ownership of Evolve FM," said Steve Mackintosh, JLL's Head of Government Business.  "PSGH is a leading Australian Indigenous business, and they bring energy and dynamism to our partnership".

Troy Rugless, co-owner of PSGH, said "Having a partner like JLL has allowed PSGH and Evolve FM to be 10-15 years ahead of where we would have been.  It's not easy to start up a full service property management company, but JLL's market-leading expertise and resources have provided a significant boost to us."

The 3 year contract (which has possible extensions) with IBA involves facility and property management services for its portfolio of more than 15 facilities across Australia.  Services to be delivered by Evolve FM include strategic portfolio management, transaction management, lease administration, end-to-end procurement services, contract management, and project and maintenance management.

James Tonkin, Chief Operating Officer of Evolve FM, noted that Evolve FM is committed to using Indigenous businesses wherever possible to deliver services to its clients. "In the first ten days of taking over the IBA contract, we have already placed work orders with Indigenous businesses, and appointed two more Indigenous businesses on  12 month contracts to deliver services to IBA nation-wide," he said. "Evolve FM is ready to provide clients with a genuine alternative for their facility management services, an alternative that will continue to empower Indigenous businesses across Australia."

On 1 July 2015, the Australian Government announced its new Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP), designed to improve engagement of Indigenous businesses. For the 2015/16 financial year, the government has mandated that 0.5% of all government external expenditure must be spent with Indigenous businesses, increasing incrementally each year to become 3% by 2019/20.
