Local watering hole saved from developers

Alexandria Hotel purchased by Merivale

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​JLL's Hotels & Hospitality Group are delighted to announce the off-market sale of the freehold interest in the Alexandria Hotel, Alexandria for $10 million.

The Alexandria Hotel, situated on a large 913sqm corner site, recently closed and was earmarked for development. However, fervent community objection persuaded the owners to sell the hotel as is. JLL were appointed and successfully engaged respected and industry leading Merivale to acquire the hotel.

Uniquely positioned between Redfern Station, Sydney Technology Park and the impending Waterloo Metro Station, the hotel is well located to capture the imminent increased foot traffic in the local area. The exceptional positioning, along with the prospect to retain a well-loved, historical site and revitalise it for the next generation, proved too good an opportunity for Merivale to miss.

The hotel is anticipated be lovingly restored and modernised to create a family friendly venue for locals that the area has so badly missed.
