Tabcorp commits to 9,213sqm for 10 years within the $2.5 billion Collins Square project

Leading Australian gambling entertainment company Tabcorp is the latest tenant to commit to Walker Corporation’s Collins Square project

Leading Australian gambling entertainment company Tabcorp is the latest tenant to commit to Walker Corporation’s Collins Square project, securing 9,213sqm of office space in Tower 2, 727 Collins Street, Melbourne.

JLL Victoria Head of Tenant Representation Peter Walsh and Director of Corporate Consulting Lauren Day provided strategic consulting and negotiation assistance to Tabcorp to enable them to achieve their long term business growth objectives.

Relocating from 5 Bowen Crescent, Melbourne, the new tenancy covers four office floors within the architecturally designed tower and will commence 1 July, 2017 on a 10 year term.

Mr Walsh said, “Tabcorp’s relocation supports the ongoing trend of large organisations consolidating existing tenancies within the Melbourne CBD.  Tabcorp joins a variety of global tenants including KPMG, Maddocks, NAB, AECOM, Marsh Mercer, CBA, Link Group, Australian Taxation Office, and Transurban, who are existing occupants of the precinct”.

“In 2007 Vic Urban forecast a 30,000 strong workforce in Docklands by 2025. This was revised to 60,000 in 2015 and then to 80,000 recently. However, Docklands has attracted businesses faster than envisaged and with a total occupied stock of 755,600 sqm it is likely the workforce in Docklands has already reached the milestone of 60,000 people, nine years ahead of time”, added JLL Victoria Director of Research, Annabel McFarlane.

Collins Square Tower 2, 727 Collins Street offers over 200 metres of prominent Collins Street frontage, a 5 star NABERS energy rating and varied floor plates allowing for highly flexible and iconic work spaces.  The development consists of five architecturally designed towers, combined with the refurbished historical Goods Shed and delivers unrivalled integration of commercial, retail, public and civic spaces in one bustling precinct.

Tabcorp Chief Financial Officer Damien Johnston said: “We have a goal to make Tabcorp a great place to work. We have been evaluating our Melbourne property requirements and are excited to be moving into Collins Square. Our new Melbourne office will better accommodate modern working practices and reduce our environmental footprint. It will provide a more collaborative environment that will enable our team members to do their best work each day”.

JLL Victoria Director of Office Leasing, Richard Norman has been appointed to manage Tabcorp’s lease vacancy at 5 Bowen Crescent, Melbourne.  Over 8,000sqm of prime office St Kilda Road accommodation will be offered on a sublease basis expiring in 2022.

Walker Corporation Founder and Executive Chairman, Lang Walker said “Collins Square will provide Tabcorp with an environment that promotes business efficiency, modern technology, environmental sustainability and workplace health and wellbeing. Tabcorp’s staff will benefit from a broad range of onsite amenities including abundant retail convenience, a childcare facility and kindergarten, gymnasium, concierge services and our recently opened Collins Square Business and Events Centre”.
