Windsor Smith manufacturing facility sole-d

195-209 St Georges Road, Northcote

MELBOURNE, 1 NOVEMBER 2012 – A prominent local developer has purchased the historic former Windsor Smith manufacturing facility at 195-209 St Georges Road, Northcote.

Jones Lang LaSalle’s Director, Sales and Investments, Steven Messina sold the property on behalf of the Mance family, founders of one of Australia’s most recognised footwear brands established in 1946.
The site has recently been re-zoned to Business 2, and comprises 2,341sqm on an island site surrounded by St Georges Road, Beavers Road and Bent Street.  Situated six kilometres north of the CBD the property represents an excellent opportunity for residential re-development in an appealing part of Melbourne’s inner North.
Close to key infrastructure with good public transport including Northcote and Croxton Railway Stations, a tram stop at the door and recreational facilities including Merri Park and Batman Park, the property generated strong interest from local and off-shore based buyers.
Mr Messina said “prominent sites of this calibre are often sought and seldom found. The purchaser, who has been very active in the area, will seek a permit for residential re-development.”
Jones Lang LaSalle are also exclusively appointed to sell the current Windsor Smith headquarters located at 161-195 High Street, Preston. The Preston site has a permit for a seven level apartment building, with an asking price of circa $7 million.
