Global  security and aerospace company, Lockheed Martin Australia to locate Hunter Region operations at the newly developed Williamtown Aerospace Centre, adjoining Newcastle Airport and the RAAF Base

AUSTRALIA, 11 FEBRUARY 2014 – Lockheed Martin Australia will consolidate its Hunter Region operations and warehouse premises into a single facility at the Williamtown Aerospace Centre in Newcastle. Developed by Hunter Land, the Centre targets aerospace, aviation and defence related industries.

Jones Lang LaSalle managed the Design and Construction pre-commitment on behalf of Lockheed Martin Australia.

Senior Consultant, Corporate Solutions at Jones Lang LaSalle, Nelson Wright said the distinctively designed building would comprise mixed use office, warehouse and workshop engineering facilities over 952 square metres.

“Lockheed Martin Australia growth plans associated with the introduction into service of several new Defence capability programs provided an ideal opportunity for them to move into a purpose built facility to position the business in a location that synergises with their client base.

“This is a pivotal commitment to the Williamtown Aerospace Centre and demonstrates the attractiveness of this site to specifically cater for major defence related tenants, with specialist infrastructure such as Defence Restricted Networks,” said Mr Nelson.

Already committed to the site are CEA Technologies, Raytheon and the Mercure Hotel.

Construction of Stage 1 of the precinct, combining a Hotel and Conference Centre, commercial offices and engineering space commenced last year.  Lockheed Martin Australia is expected to move into their new premises in mid-2014.

Jones Lang LaSalle’s Australian Head of Integrated Portfolio Services, Tony Wyllie said, “Jones Lang LaSalle provides integrated real estate solutions for Lockheed Martin Corporation across many continents.

“Securing the Lockheed Martin Australia pre-commitment demonstrates our strong ability and geographical coverage as a true end-to-end global service provider, to successfully implement the preferred outcome on behalf of our client in a challenging environment offering a limited level of existing stock,” said Mr Wyllie.
