JLL appoints new Head of Property and Asset Management for Victoria

Melinda van der Westhuizen will rejoin JLL on June 23, taking over from Bill Redfern who is retiring after 25 years with the firm

MELBOURNE, 3 JUNE 2014 – JLL today announces the new appointment of Melinda van der Westhuizen, who is rejoining the firm as Victoria’s Head of Property and Asset Management and member of the Victorian Executive Committee on June 23, 2014.

Ms van der Westhuizen previously held a National Director position at JLL Melbourne between 1999 and 2010 within the major client business, with responsibility and leadership for $2.4 billion of commercial, retail and industrial property assets under management for ISPT.

JLL’s Managing Director for Victoria, David Bowden, said he is pleased to welcome Ms van der Westhuizen back to the fold. “The appointment follows an extensive internal and external search. As an active market participant with a visible market profile and a large network of client relationships, Melinda is well positioned to nurture the key areas of the Property and Asset Management business and continue to improve our market share.”

JLL’s Property and Asset Management business in Victoria currently manages over 2.1 million square metres of office, retail and industrial space, with clients ranging from major institutions to private investors.

Mr Bowden said the new appointment marks the end of an era for JLL. “Bill Redfern, who previously held the position, will retire on July 31 after a long and incredibly productive 25 years with the firm, delivering outstanding results with an approach to businesses reflecting the best qualities of the firm: highly professional, highly regarded, performance-driven and with sound business acumen.”

Ms van der Westhuizen will rejoin JLL from Westpac, where she was Corporate Services Manager for Melbourne. Since leaving JLL in 2010, she spent the previous three years with Baptcare Limited where she was responsible for developing the growth strategy and implementing and executing acquisition procedures.
