JLL appointed to manage two major Government property portfolios in WA comprised of 45 individual properties

The portfolios cover more than 140,000 square metres and include properties throughout WA metropolitan and regional centres and on Cocos Island and Christmas Island

​PERTH, 15 SEPTEMBER 2014 – Global property services firm, JLL has been appointed to manage two very large property portfolios on behalf of the State and Commonwealth Governments, which includes 45 individual properties in Western Australia, Cocos Island and Christmas Island.
JLL’s Property and Asset Management team in WA has been awarded management for the Department of Finance, Building Management and Works State Government owned portfolio. This portfolio includes 19 multi-tenanted office buildings covering more than 90,000 square metres. JLL was also reappointed to manage the Commonwealth Government owned Indian Ocean Territories portfolio, comprising 26 properties including 12 on Cocos Island and 14 on Christmas Island, totalling more than 50,000 square metres. The portfolio includes a diverse range of property types including commercial office buildings, a law court and other special purpose properties, public interest properties, heritage buildings, and vacant land.

JLL’s WA Managing Director, John Williams said, “JLL has been managing the Indian Ocean Territories portfolio on behalf of the Government for the past nine years.  Our reappointment further strengthens JLL’s proven expertise in providing property services to the Government.

“We are delighted to be taking up the management of the Department of Finance, Building Management and Works portfolio across Western Australian.  This portfolio spans over 90,000 square metres, from locations of Kununurra in the north to Esperance in the south,” said Mr Williams.

JLL’s WA Head of Property and Asset Management, David Watson said, “We look forward to applying our market-leading property management services to the Building Management and Works portfolios. 

“It was a full team contribution that led to these two major appointments. In this case, our Engineering & Operations Solutions (EOS) team contributed to JLL being awarded these contracts. Our EOS team is very highly regarded and has a great track record with our clients for their management and coordination of capital works and maintenance programs for the portfolios we manage,” said Mr Watson.  

Under the two contracts, JLL will provide a comprehensive range of property management services, including strategic advice, contractor management, lease administration, facility management services, procurement, environmental management, project management, financial services and reporting. 

Both appointments are for an initial term of three years, commencing 1 January 2015.
