Burson Automotive leases second national distribution centre


​​BRISBANE, 23 FEBRUARY 2015 - Burson Automotive Pty Ltd is set to open a second distribution centre, in addition to their Melbourne facility, at 11 Inghams Place, Hemmant, after securing the property’s lease in a deal negotiated by JLL’s Samuel Stewart and Chris Davis.

Burson Automotive are Australia’s largest trade specialist supplier of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories and workshop equipment to car servicing workshops across Australia. Burson services its customers via an extensive store network with in excess of 500 delivery vehicles and over 1,200 employees.

JLL was first contacted by Burson Automotive in early 2014, just prior to its parent company, Burson Group Limited listing on the ASX, to assist in sourcing a suitable distribution facility to service their stores in Queensland and Northern New South Wales. The company was eager to open a second distribution centre on top of their 15,000sqm facility in Melbourne which was currently servicing all stores across Australia.

“The original brief was for a 4,000sqm plus facility and they wanted to see all available options within the Brisbane region,” said JLL’s Negotiator of Industrial for Queensland, Mr Samuel Stewart.

“We worked closely with the National Logistics Manager to shortlist the most suitable existing facilities and as it turned out the business required closer to 8,000sqm to allow for future growth and expansion within the region.”

In the end the logistical preference was 11 Inghams Place at Hemmant due to its central positioning, with the facility situated approximately 11 kilometres east of the CBD, boasting easy access to the Gateway Arterial via the Port Motorway and allowing good connectivity to southern and northern existing Burson stores. 

Burson has signed a seven year lease with an option for a further five years at the TradeCoast facility. The annual rental was not disclosed, however market sources indicated the site would have leased for an annual rental between $859,100 and $945,000 net.

The property has a site area of 17,100sqm, and a building area of 8,591sqm consisting of 600sqm of office space spread over two levels, and 7,991sqm of warehouse space. 

The distribution facility features excellent internal warehouse clearance coupled with an ESFR sprinkler system, corporate grade office accommodation, multiple roller door access, expansive hardstand for truck access and manoeuvring along with two street crossovers to Inghams Place.
