Sydney’s Commonwealth Bank Place at Darling Quarter awarded 6 Star Green Star Performance rating

Innovative precinct achieves recognition from the Green Building Council of Australia

The collaborative efforts of the Lendlease managed Australian Prime Property Fund (APPF) Commercial, JLL’s building operations and sustainability teams and the Commonwealth Bank have been recognised, with Commonwealth Bank Place at Sydney’s Darling Quarter being awarded the first 6 Star Green Star Performance rating by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).

The innovative precinct, managed by JLL on behalf of client APPF Commercial, scored 81 points against the minimum 6 Star requirement of 75 points, classifying it in the ‘World Leadership’ category of the Green Star rating scale. The Green Star Performance certification was awarded on the first round of assessment, with the building scoring in all 9 categories of the criteria. These included Transport in which it scored a seven out of seven, Emissions (6 out of 6), Land Use & Ecology (4 out of 6), Water (10 out of 12) and Energy (19 out of 24). Other categories in which the precinct was awarded include Innovation, Management, Indoor Environment Quality and Materials.

The rating was achieved through a collaboration between APPF Commercial, Lendlease, which built the property, and JLL’s Energy and Sustainability Services, Lendlease Account team and site-based Building Management team. The latest award sees Darling Quarter recognised as the only building in Australia to achieve all four 6 Star Green Star awards, following its current 6 Star Green Star ratings for Design, As-Built and Interiors.

JLL Sustainability Director – Australia, Chris Nunn, said, “We are thrilled that Commonwealth Bank Place has been recognised in this way. Through an ongoing collaboration between APPF Commercial, JLL and the tenant Commonwealth Bank, we have been able to ensure the best practice sustainability features of Darling Quarter’s design have been translated into an operational reality. We are proud of this significant achievement and our ongoing commitment to creating a truly sustainable precinct for Sydney.”

The Darling Quarter precinct is a campus-style commercial development located at Darling Harbour in Sydney. Commonwealth Bank Place at Darling Quarter has 58,000 square metres of commercial office space across two nine-storey buildings which are fully occupied by the Commonwealth Bank.
