JLL North Sydney works smart with transition to Activity-Based Working office

New premises embraces the firm’s in-house designed model

JLL Australia’s North Sydney business has transitioned to a new office located in the prominent Northpoint Tower, featuring the firm’s in-house designed Activity-Based Working model, WorkSmart.

JLL has remained in the Northpoint Tower at 100 Miller Street, moving from Level 27 to the new office fit-out on Level 33.  The fit out was completed by the firm’s Project & Development Services division, which also completed the fit outs for JLL’s other WorkSmart offices across the country.

JLL’s NSW Managing Director, Michael Fenton said, “We’re excited that the North Sydney team has joined the growing number of our staff now successfully enjoying the benefits of WorkSmart. The flexible working environment offers so much more than a traditional office space, and nurtures collaboration, innovation and productivity. The new office has an energising look and feel and really delivers on both form and function.”

The firm has successfully transitioned a number of its offices to the Activity-Based Working model in recent years. These include the Sydney CBD, Parramatta, Canberra, Perth and Glen Waverley in Victoria. Its Melbourne office will also move to a new WorkSmart space later this year.

WorkSmart, which was conceived and designed in-house by JLL’s Corporate Solutions team, incorporates enhanced mobility and flexibility through multiple activity settings and work locations.

Features of the new office space in North Sydney include non-assigned desks, discussion hubs, meeting rooms, quiet ‘hush’ rooms, a café-style kitchen area and a modern reception area. It has also been equipped with energy efficient lighting, plants to improve indoor air quality, low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) finishes to all surfaces and Recycled Gyprock board.

JLL’s Head of North Sydney, Denys Bizinger, said “The transition to our new premises has been a big success and we’re delighted with the space. The diversity of the working styles, such as the discussion hubs, ‘hush’ rooms and flexibility of seating arrangements, offers a fresh new environment for the team. Staff have been quick to embrace the WorkSmart concept and we look forward to utilising it to its full potential in the future. The fact that we’ve maintained a central location within North Sydney, which offers fantastic city views, is an added benefit.”

In 2011, JLL relocated its largest Sydney office to a 3,700sqm new space offering WorkSmart at 420 George Street. JLL Canberra and Perth both relocated to sustainable buildings at 121 Marcus Clarke Street Canberra, and to prominent Perth office building, Central Park.

The offices in Sydney and Canberra are located in 5 Star Green Star (v2) Office Design buildings, while Central Park has a 5 Star NABERS Energy rating. In 2014, JLL became one of only three firms in the ACT to be awarded a 5 Star Green Star - Office Interiors v1.1 Certified Rating for its office fit out.
