The balance in the Canberra apartment market remains healthy for investors, despite recent strong apartment completions. The market is supported by a number of positive economic fundamentals, including robust local economic activity and strong population growth. Despite APRA’s measures to slow investor credit growth, some investor interest in Canberra remains because of the relatively high gross yields and low rental vacancy. Apartment price growth is expected to remain positive, albeit slowing slightly with the addition of apartments to market supply.
