JLL to advise La Trobe University on ‘City of the Future’ project
235 hectare Bundoora campus set to evolve into a $5billon world-class University City in Melbourne’s north
JLL Strategic Consulting have been appointed as Property Advisors for the $5billion ‘City of the Future’ project. The project is the largest capital plan in the University’s 56-year history and is set to transform the 235-hectare Bundoora campus over the next decade into a world-class University City of the Future.
Over a two-year program, JLL Strategic Consulting will work with La Trobe to guide the preparation and positioning of the University vision and aspirations for the campus, developing a strategy to identify and select appropriate development partners across their extensive site.
The campus transformation will see the existing campus evolve into a “multi-precinct” offering. It will create a new town centre with a major health and wellbeing hub, new education facilities for 40,000+ students, additional housing for students, staff and private residents, a world class sports park (to be the Matildas home during the 2023 FIFA’s Women’s World Cup), a transformed research and innovation precinct, better transport links, and an environmental corridor and green spaces for students and the community.
The ‘City of the Future’ project builds on the strong profile of the University which remains a major anchor of the State Government’s La Trobe National Employment & Innovation Cluster (which also features in the recently launched North & West Melbourne City Deal).
