Global property services firm, JLL is bolstering its Australian Institutional Investments team with the addition of two market leaders – Nick Rathgeber and Leigh Melbourne. Both join the JLL team from Colliers and start with JLL on 5 February
Mr Rathgeber and Mr Melbourne will be Regional Directors of the firm and join the national team, based in Melbourne. They have a combined 30 years of experience in the commercial property industry and were responsible for transacting the two largest Melbourne CBD office transactions on record – a 50% stake in the Southern Cross towers complex for $675 million in 2015; and the sale of two office towers 'CBW' - 'Corner of Bourke and William complex' for $608 million in 2014.
CEO of JLL Australia, Stephen Conry said, "We are delighted to be welcoming two market leaders to JLL. Nick's and Leigh's experience is impressive and they will be a valued part of our growing Australian Capital Markets business.
"We are very optimistic about the opportunities for our investor clients in the years ahead. Nick and Leigh join a great team and will help us deliver for those clients.
"The outlook for investment markets in 2018 is positive. The Australian market is characterised by high levels of liquidity and multiple capital sources competing for product. Investors from Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong and Korea will be the most active in 2018.
"New pricing benchmarks achieved in 2017 will stimulate vendor motivation in 2018, which was a factor in 2017 activity also. Some owners will want to crystalise gains on assets in their portfolios and recycle the capital into new opportunities," said Mr Conry.
