Rural property specialist joins JLL’s growing national agribusiness team

Appointment of director Clayton Smith adds further experience and marketing innovation to Brisbane-based operation

August 28, 2019

BRISBANE, 28 August 2019 – JLL has expanded its national agribusiness team with the appointment of a new director, Clayton Smith.

Mr Smith, a rural property specialist of more than 20 years, joins JLL from Elders. He has notched up more than 250 transactions during his career spanning southern Queensland and northern NSW.

His notable deals include the sale of Queensland properties Kindon Station and Undabri Station, which he sold twice.

JLL Director — Agribusiness Geoff Warriner said the business and clients would benefit from Mr Smith’s lifelong affinity with rural Australia.

"Clayton grew up on Queensland’s Western Downs and managed family farming enterprises, equipping him with broad knowledge of the cropping and irrigation farming and livestock industries,” Mr Warriner said.

“He is also an industry leader in irrigation water marketing and has conducted regular water auctions and off-market sales.”

Mr Smith is based in JLL’s Brisbane office with Mr Warriner and fellow Director — Agribusiness Chris Holgar, who joined JLL in February 2019 as the firm expanded its agribusiness services platform to include property transactions and to boost its geographical reach.

JLL's rural specialisation also encompasses valuations, with a team of more than 10 rural valuers operating across Australia.

Mr Smith said: “I’m delighted to be joining JLL at such a significant time as the company’s agribusiness offering continues to progress into the rural transactional space and support the evolving needs of Australia’s rural property sector.”
