Global real estate markets ended 2017 in impressive fashion, with 2018 projected to be another solid year barring major financial, economic or political shocks. Office leasing volumes in the final quarter of 2017 were at their highest level in a decade, while the global vacancy rate defied expectations and continued to fall, despite being near the peak of the development cycle. Investors remain confident in the real estate sector, with transaction volumes in the final quarter of 2017 surpassing the previous quarterly peak in 2014.
