Challenge

JLL was engaged by a Federal Government Agency to provide sustainability services including energy management for a large government portfolio, with sites located across Australia. Our client aspired to drastically reduce their energy consumption while also reducing operational costs.

Approach

We proposed a broad Energy and Sustainability Services (ESS) program to reduce energy consumption and drive down costs. Some of these initiatives included lighting upgrades including LED, solar photovoltaics (PV) installations, server room efficiency improvement via, supplementary air conditioning modifications, and Uninterrupted power supply (UPS) right-sizing.

Result

Our ESS program offered costs savings and a pathway to reaching the client’s targets of spending less than $50M per annum in energy.

In addition, the client was able to achieve:

  • A realised cumulative energy cost saving of more than $800,000 within a 3 year time period
  • A further $900,000 in potential energy costs savings, or 3% of energy spend
  • An additional $11.9M in realised and potential annual cost savings through reduced after hours air conditioning and utility tariff charges
