Challenge
A Federal Government Agency’s tenancy was performing below Commonwealth energy efficiency standards and its NABERS lease target for the premises. This was incurring excessive costs and contributing to avoidable energy-related emissions.
Approach
During a NABERS site assessment, we discovered a range of issues within the government agency’s office, including inefficient, poor-quality, and inconsistent lighting. To rectify the lighting, we created a business case to justify a return on investment in new lighting technology. Once approved, we provided premium project management of the lighting installation project, acting as the single point of contact between client and contractors to ensure an on-time and on-budget project was delivered.
Result
New LED lighting technology reduced our client’s energy consumption by 80 percent – approximately $2,000 monthly saving. This is equivalent to an over 40 percent energy reduction across the entire tenancy per month.
In addition to saving energy, increasing efficiency, and reducing costs, this project improved our client’s NABERS energy rating from 3.5 stars to 5.5 stars.
