Time

November 2020 - April 2021

Siemens wanted to give its employees a more optimal environment to do their work. Its vision was to give staff greater choices of workplace settings to improve productivity and their happiness.

They also wanted their workplace to better reflect the company’s evolution into an agile, customer-focused technology provider.

Challenge

Siemens had a workplace concept from its head office in Germany. The company wanted to implement the concept in its Docklands office, but with a design that suits the local teams’ needs and fosters a sense of the Melbourne community.

The tenancy included updated security, new welcome space, non-assigned work points, storage lockers, various other collaboration spaces and an Obeya room. Obeya means “large room” in Japanese which involves gathering of leaders to focus on big picture issues within a single project or initiative.

Approach

JLL created a strong cohesive design and management team who provided a seamless experience for Siemens.

The design was managed completely online in its early stages. The JLL design team were able to collaborate with the global Siemens design team to find innovative solutions to ensure the final design met Siemens organisational purpose but also Australian building standards.

JLL was able to facilitate a smooth transaction through each stage of the project from this early online phase through to a successful end delivery.

Result

Siemens was very pleased with the result of the Docklands project as we ensured a smooth and straightforward process that exceeded their expectations.

JLL is continuing to work with Siemens as it rolls out a similar concept in its Bayswater campus, in outer Melbourne.
