AUSTRALIA, 22 June 2023 – An established and diverse horticulture enterprise situated on the western bank of the Ord River within the Wyndham-East Kimberly region of Western Australia, Kimberly Produce is being offered for sale by Expression of Interest through JLL Agribusiness.

On behalf of the Dobson family, JLL’s Directors – Agribusiness Geoff Warriner, Clayton Smith and Sales Executive James Mitchell have been appointed to sell the Property.

Providing an opportunity to acquire an established diversified horticultural enterprise with tangible scope for expansion to further high-value tree or cash crops including cotton, Kimberly Produce is ideally situated 10 minutes north of the township of Kununurra. The Property covers approximately 160.06 hectares, of which 90% or 144.05* hectares is irrigatable. The balance is made up of roads and support land.

JLL’s Geoff Warriner said, “Kimberly Produce has been progressively developed to be recognised as a diverse range of plantings enabling year-round production, representing an opportunity for a purchaser wanting to secure development opportunities to further develop permanent plantings or irrigated cotton.

“Kimberly Produce was purchased by the Dobson Family as a conditional horticultural lease in 1995, there has been significant capital invested in the property. Included vegetation clearing, establishment of higher value crops to capitalise on the property’s soil, secure water entitlement and market requirements enabling the leased land to be converted to two freehold Certificates of Title,” he said.

“Whilst Banana plantations were established in 1996 these were subsequently removed to make way for red-fleshed grapefruit in response to incentives provided by the “Managed Investment Scheme Act”. Following the scheme being discontinued in 2013 bananas we reintroduced along with mangos and papaya.

“In addition, under the Dobson’s family’s tenure, there has been significant capital invested in irrigation and packing shed built adjacent to Weero Road which enables ease of access to the major arterial route of the Victoria highway.”

JLL’s Clayton Smith said,” The 160.06-hectare property is complimented by its secure water resource, with direct access to the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, being associated to the Ord River Dam (Lake Argyle) recognised as the second largest inland reservoir in Australia.

The property sits 10 minutes north-west of Kununurra, 101 kilometres east of the Port of Wyndham and 830 kilometres west of Darwin with direct frontage to Weero Road which provides seamless access to the Victoria Highway and through that, multiple end-markets. Kununurra is the closest regional service centre.

Kimberly Produce is for sale by Expression of Interest, on Thursday 20th of July 2023 at 4:00pm AEST.
