CANBERRA, 17 February 2022 – Global property services firm JLL is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of its Canberra office.

At a national level, JLL has had an established presence in Australia since 1958, when it became the first global commercial property firm to establish operations.

When the Canberra office opened in 1971, it was with only a handful of team members at the time. Now, JLL has more than 300 property experts in the Australian Capital Territory.

CEO of JLL Australia, Stephen Conry said, “JLL has a proud history of contributing to the development of our cities over both our 64-year history in Australia and our 50 years in the ACT. We have played a key part in the growth of the nation’s capital and the markets that helped shape Canberra to the vibrant capital it is today.

“The past 50 years has seen JLL’s involvement in many of Canberra’s key development projects, including Constitution Place, Civic Quarter. We have assisted owners and occupiers across all property as well as targeting and attracting investment capital for Australia’s capital city.

“With the national growth of our corporate property and consulting business we have dramatically increased the size of our Canberra team where much of our Federal Government service offering is based,” said Mr Conry.

JLL’s Managing Director - ACT, Andrew Balzanelli said, “We were pioneers 50 years ago and still are today. We have grown, but have remained committed to helping shape Canberra, shape the careers of our people and support our clients' growth. We are very grateful they have entrusted us for so many years to navigate through the various market conditions, using our market leading research and data insights and the deep well of knowledge from our property experts in Canberra.”

Canberra is increasingly becoming a destination of choice for investment and migration. In the 50 years since JLL was established in Canberra, the population has increased from 151,000 to 450,000 million.

Mr Balzanelli said, “With significant population growth projections forecast for Canberra in the future, JLL will continue to be on hand to assist owners and occupiers with their growth strategies.”
