JLL celebrates 60 years shaping Western Australia's property landscape
Global real estate services firm JLL celebrates the 60th anniversary of the opening of its Perth office.
JLL, a world leader in real estate services, is commemorating 60 years of operations in Western Australia, showcasing its pivotal role in the growth and transformation of Perth's property market.
From its humble beginnings in 1964, when the Perth office opened, JLL has grown to become an integral part of Western Australia's property landscape now employing more than 200 commercial property professionals across the state.
JLL Managing Director – WA, Angelo Amara reflected on the company's legacy: "Over six decades, JLL has played a key part in the growth of Perth and the property markets that helped shape it into the vibrant city it is today.”
“We've witnessed and contributed to the city's growth from a market predominantly of finance, insurance, and agribusiness to a dynamic hub for resources and international business,” said Mr Amara.
The Perth CBD office market has undergone significant transformation since JLL's establishment in the city. In the 60 years since JLL opened its doors, the CBD office market has grown from approximately 491,700 sqm to 1,806,800 sqm, expanding 3.6 times its original size.
This growth reflects the city's economic diversification, particularly following the lifting of the iron ore export embargo in 1960, with the resources sector now occupying about 25 per cent of office space, up from just 5 per cent in the 1960s.
JLL's first major project, the management of Floreat Forum Shopping Centre – the first neighbourhood shopping centre built in Western Australia – marked the beginning of a long-standing commitment to retail property services in WA. "Through changing ownership, tenants and renovations, it's a testament to our enduring relationships and expertise that JLL continues to manage Floreat Forum today," said Mr Amara.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary, JLL is hosting a photographic exhibition showcasing Perth's remarkable architectural and urban transformation over the past six decades, as well as holding a cocktail event for clients and guests.
“As we celebrate our past, we're equally focused on the future and driving innovation in property services to support the sustainable growth of Western Australia's vibrant real estate market. We have grown, but have remained committed to helping shape Perth, nurture the careers of our people, and support our clients' growth,” said Mr Amara.
The Perth Photographic Exhibition will be held from Monday 7 October to Friday 18 October in the foyer of Central Park, St Georges Terrace, Perth.
