Retail transaction volumes in Q1 2024 were subdued at AUD 566.1 million across 18 assets, primarily from the limited carry-over from Q4 2023, where over AUD 2.8 billion transacted.

While shopping centres may not be immune to a cyclical slowdown in discretionary retail sales, the sector has recalibrated on rents and values. The sector performance will also be supported by a combination of low supply and strong population growth forecasts, which exceed most mature economies in the medium to long term.
