The weight of rising interest rates and other living cost pressures are beginning to slow parts of the housing market. Demand has been dampened in parts of the apartment market, as many buyers pause and wait to see where interest rates might settle. In other parts, such as the higher end of the market, demand has remained buoyant because of less interest rate sensitivity, and the inclusion of downsizers which have kept the segment robust. With the expectancy that purchasers' borrowing capacity will decline, the unaffordability of detached houses will indeed push more demand toward the apartment market.
