Capital sources are reviving retail strategies on the back of a strengthening underlying asset performance story and a growing value proposition. Consumer resilience has surprised on the upside with a surge in retail spending since 2020, resulting in a rebound in operational metrics. We have weighed up the value proposition for the asset class and we believe renewed interest in the retail sector will translate into more significant deployment from a range of core and core-plus funds over the next few years, from domestic and offshore groups.
