More than 14 years after joining JLL, Jason still sees how the skills and experience he gained from his time in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) help him in the workplace.
“One of the biggest things I think has helped me in my time with JLL is the ability to be flexible and follow processes and policies,” he says. “In the Australian Defence Force (ADF) I learnt the importance of structure and I have been able to introduce that into the team. I’ve also been able to demonstrate the discipline that I gained from the Army and apply it to a commercial setting.”
Jason started with JLL as an Assistant Facilities Manager supporting a single client and has grown his role to now be supporting all entities across JLL’s Whole of Australian Government operations.

While in some ways the Military is very different to a civilian workplace, Jason says there are also a lot of similarities.
“In all workplaces there are challenges,” he says. “In some cases, these are very similar to what you’d encounter in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) but with a commercial aspect. The ability to be fluid and adaptable in your approach will ensure your success.”
