Challenge
SPX Flow is an engineering company specialising in the production of custom-design industrial equipment. It designs, develops, tests and manufactures equipment worldwide.
With a move to a new office location, SPX Flow sought to retain as much of the existing fit-out as possible, both for cost saving purposes and to adopt a waste-conscious approach.
With a tight project program and last minute variation to implement a reception area, project time lines were tight. Works included new workstations and an office, new communications room and the creation of a reception area.
The outbreak of COVID-19 further complicated delivery as the team had to manage the impact of travel restrictions on the Melbourne based client, which meant all communications went virtual. There were also significant changes to safety and social distancing requirements that affected all contractors on site.
Approach
To minimise risks resulting from running such a tight program and budget, JLL drew on their experience to meticulously plan construction, and undertook detailed management of trades at a micro-level.
Result
With a two-week program of works, SPX Flow achieved a seamless move from the old office to their new office accommodation, with no issues on the first day of operation and no delays despite the challenges of delivering in a COVID safe environment.
